Strella Biotechnology has built a biosensing platform, combining proprietary IoT sensors with machine learning, that predicts the ripeness and shelf life of fresh produce inside cold storage and packing facilities. Its ethylene-monitoring sensors and software help suppliers store apples, exporters ship and slot kiwis, and retailers stock the freshest, perfectly ripe bananas, cutting spoilage across the fresh produce supply chain. Founded by Katherine Sizov, the company is headquartered in Seattle with additional operations at Pennovation Works in Philadelphia, and serves growers, packers, and retailers across the produce industry.
