Commaful is a visual storytelling platform that lets anyone create, share, and discover beautifully formatted short stories, poetry, fanfiction, and creative writing. The platform combines text with images and GIFs to produce a distinctive bite-sized reading experience optimized for mobile consumption. Founded in 2015 and based in San Francisco, Commaful serves a passionate community of writers across genres including romance, fantasy, fanfiction, and literary fiction, with verified authors and an ambassador program. The platform differentiates itself from traditional blogging and social networks by making posts both quick to read and quick to make, enabling rapid creative iteration. Co-founders include Ryan Choi and Sydney Liu (who later founded CharacterHub).
