Aequor is a New Jersey biotech developing green, non-toxic chemicals derived from marine microbes that eliminate bacterial biofilm ('slime') in minutes. Its liquid concentrate replaces toxic biocides in water treatment, cutting conventional chemical use by up to 90% and energy use by up to 15% while preventing filter clogging. The technology was 99.99% effective against resistant bacteria in NASA testing aboard the ISS water-reuse system - underpinning the company's 'clean water from deep sea to deep space' mission.
