ROME Therapeutics is a biotechnology company developing novel therapies for cancer and autoimmune diseases by harnessing the power of the repeatome—vast stretches of the genome previously considered non-functional 'dark genome' DNA. Launched in April 2020 and incubated by GV in collaboration with ARCH Venture Partners and Partners Innovation Fund, ROME has built a deep pipeline of drug candidates targeting transposable elements and other repeatome-derived biology. The company's platform combines genomics, data science, and drug discovery to identify new therapeutic targets invisible to conventional approaches. ROME has raised over $149 million through Series A and B financings, with investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Johnson & Johnson Innovation, and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
