Polymateria is a British biotechnology company founded in 2016 at Imperial College London, developing a breakthrough technology called Biotransformation that enables polyolefin-based plastics to safely and fully biodegrade in the natural environment without leaving microplastics or toxic residue. The company's patented masterbatch additive technology is designed to integrate into existing plastic manufacturing processes, allowing global brands and packaging producers to make conventionally non-recyclable plastics biodegradable without changing their production lines. Polymateria has secured major global partnerships with companies including Indorama Ventures Limited and raised a £20 million Series B round anchored by Singapore-based impact fund ABC Impact, with its technology validated and deployed across 15+ countries.
