Lab-approved home plasma collection
LoBio (Lo Biosciences, Inc.) is a healthtech startup founded by two Cornell PhD researchers—Sasank Vemulapati and Li Jiang—who met at Cornell University's Mobile and Global Health Laboratory. The company developed the LoBio P1, a patented micro-magnetic bead device that separates plasma from blood with the same quality as a centrifuge, enabling patients to collect and ship clinical-grade samples from home. More than 85% of the 2 billion blood draws done yearly in the US require plasma, which historically has required specialized lab equipment. LoBio has been recognized by Techstars Healthcare (Spring 2024), Creative Destruction Lab (Health and Wellness 2023), and Mt. Sinai Elementa Labs (2024), and has received federal grant funding from NSF and CDC.
