CelluComp is a Scottish materials science company based in Dalgety Bay, Fife, specializing in the development and commercialization of Curran®, a proprietary cellulose nanofiber (CNF) derived from plant roots such as carrots. Founded by Dr. David Hepworth and Dr. Eric Whale, the company has developed a patented process that is unique in allowing the properties of cellulose nanofibers to be fully utilized in performance materials. CelluComp’s Curran® additive is used to reinforce and enhance a wide range of products including paints, composites, coatings, and sporting goods, offering a sustainable, bio-based alternative to synthetic performance additives.
