Anheuser-Busch Companies traces its roots to a small brewery founded in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1852, which Eberhard Anheuser and his son-in-law Adolphus Busch built into the largest brewer in the United States, best known for its flagship Budweiser beer. By the time of its acquisition the company operated a network of breweries across the U.S. along with the Busch Gardens theme parks and other entertainment properties. InBev acquired Anheuser-Busch for $70.00 per share in an all-cash transaction completed November 18, 2008, valued at approximately $52 billion; the combined company was renamed Anheuser-Busch InBev, and Anheuser-Busch continues to operate as its North American subsidiary headquartered in St. Louis.
