Founded in 1976 in Brooklyn, New York by Nathan 'Natie' Kirsh, Jetro pioneered the no-frills, no-delivery, no-minimum-order warehouse model for the food trade — distinct from warehouse clubs in that it serves only business customers and charges no membership fee. The company operates Jetro Cash & Carry and majority-owned Restaurant Depot (founded 1990), together comprising the largest cash-and-carry wholesale operation for independent foodservice operators in the United States. In March 2026, Sysco announced a $29.1 billion acquisition of Jetro Restaurant Depot.
