VSS Monitoring

VSS Monitoring was a San Mateo, California-based network visibility company founded in October 2003 by Terence Martin Breslin. The company was a world leader in network packet brokers (NPBs), providing a unique systems approach to enable network-wide and link-layer traffic capture for network and security monitoring applications. Its vBroker appliance product line allowed enterprises and service providers to aggregate, filter, and distribute network traffic to monitoring and security tools including intrusion detection systems, network performance monitors, and lawful intercept solutions. VSS Monitoring served telecommunications carriers, enterprises, and government customers requiring scalable, lossless capture of high-speed network traffic across distributed infrastructures. The company competed in the network visibility market alongside Ixia, Gigamon, and Net Optics.
