Voltaire was a networking technology company headquartered in Herzliya, Israel, founded in 1997. The company specialized in InfiniBand switching and scale-out data center fabric solutions, providing superior connectivity for computing and storage platforms in high-performance computing, virtualized data centers, and cloud markets. Voltaire's InfiniBand switches offered significantly higher performance than conventional Ethernet switches, making them attractive for HPC workloads. The company raised $64.5 million across six funding rounds from investors including Concord Ventures and Benhamou Global Ventures, among others. In November 2010, Mellanox Technologies announced its acquisition of Voltaire for approximately $218 million ($8.75 per share), completing the deal in early 2011. The acquisition gave Mellanox market leadership in end-to-end InfiniBand connectivity solutions.
