TeachStreet was a Seattle-based online marketplace founded in June 2007 by Dave Schappell that connected students with local and online instructors across subjects including music, arts, sports, academics, and professional skills. Teachers could list classes, manage bookings, and accept payments through the platform. The company raised approximately $2.25M in funding and was acquired by Amazon in February 2012, after which its services were absorbed into Amazon Local. Dave Schappell previously served as a Director of Product Management at Amazon.com and VP of Marketing at JibJab prior to founding TeachStreet.
