Spaceflight Industries was an American private aerospace company founded in 2009 by Jason Andrews in Seattle, Washington. The company operated two primary business lines: Spaceflight Inc., a satellite rideshare broker that purchased excess payload capacity on commercial launch vehicles and resold it to secondary payload customers; and BlackSky Global, a geospatial intelligence service building a constellation of small Earth-imaging satellites for on-demand imagery. Spaceflight Industries also co-founded LeoStella, a small satellite manufacturing joint venture with Thales Alenia Space. In June 2020, the company divested Spaceflight Inc. to Japanese buyers Mitsui and Yamasa. BlackSky subsequently became an independent public company in September 2021 through a SPAC merger.
