Provigent was a fabless semiconductor company specializing in highly integrated, high-performance SoC solutions for broadband wireless and microwave backhaul equipment. Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Santa Clara, California, the company developed microwave transmission chipsets used by mobile operators for backhaul infrastructure. Provigent was acquired by Broadcom Corporation in April 2011 for approximately $313 million, with Broadcom gaining its microwave radio engineering expertise to expand its mobile backhaul portfolio.
