Probely (now Snyk API & Web, a Snyk business) is an automated web application and API vulnerability scanner (DAST) that helps security and DevOps teams discover, prioritize, and fix vulnerabilities across their attack surface. Founded in 2016 in Lisbon, Portugal, by Nuno Loureiro, Bruno Barao, and Joao Poupino, Probely automates security testing throughout the software development lifecycle using a Headless-Chrome-based spider to crawl JavaScript-heavy apps and single-page applications, and offers compliance reporting for standards including PCI DSS, OWASP Top 10, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and GDPR. Probely raised $9.48M across four funding rounds before being acquired by Snyk in November 2024 to strengthen API and web application security for AI-era software.
