Pearl Certification

Pearl Certification is the nation's first independent standards and ratings organization for home performance, founded in 2017 by Cynthia Adams and Robin LeBaron and headquartered in Charlottesville, Virginia. The company has established the Pearl SCORE, a 1-to-1,000 rating system that evaluates homes across five pillars: Safety, Comfort, Operations, Resilience, and Energy. Pearl works in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Association of Realtors, and major MLS systems nationwide to make residential energy efficiency visible and measurable at the point of sale. As a certified B-Corporation, Pearl partners with contractors, builders, HVAC manufacturers, appraisers, and real estate professionals to bring home performance data into real estate transactions. Independent research has found that Pearl-certified homes sold for an average sales price premium of over 5% compared to non-certified homes, and Pearl has certified more than 200,000 homes across the United States.
