OxyMem, now a DuPont brand following its 2020 acquisition, is the inventor of the commercially available Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactor (MABR), a breakthrough technology for wastewater treatment. Founded in 2013 as a spin-off from University College Dublin, OxyMem's drop-in MABR modules enable municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants to increase biological treatment capacity by up to 50%, reduce energy consumption by up to 75%, and cut sludge production by 50% — all without additional infrastructure. Its customers include Severn Trent, Jacobs, Shell, and major utilities across Europe, North America, and beyond.
