Mented Cosmetics is a New York-based premium beauty brand founded in 2017 by KJ Miller and Amanda E. Johnson, created specifically to serve women of color who have long been underserved by the mainstream cosmetics industry. The company offers a full range of cruelty-free, vegan makeup products — including foundations, concealers, lipsticks, eyeshadow palettes, blushes, and bronzers — formulated across an inclusive shade range that shows up authentically on deeper skin tones. Mented made history in 2017 when its founders became among the first 15 and 16 African-American women ever to raise venture capital ($1M), and the brand has grown into a multicultural beauty company available direct-to-consumer online and through retail partners.
