MacroCycle Technologies is a Cambridge, Massachusetts materials company that upcycles PET and polyester textile waste into virgin-quality polyester resin. Its patented process, SolvoGenesis, uses proprietary solvent systems and macrocyclic chemistry to form new polymer bonds rather than breaking existing ones, allowing it to handle mixed, dirty, real-world waste that mechanical recycling cannot process and to do so with far less energy and capital than conventional chemical recycling. The company sells MacroTEX, a 100% polyester resin made from textile waste, and MacroPACK, a virgin-grade PET resin for bottles made from end-of-life textiles, both positioned as drop-in replacements for virgin material. Founded in 2023 and a resident company at The Engine, it raised a $6.5 million seed round in 2025 to scale its pilot plant.
