LSI Logic Corporation was an American semiconductor company that designed and sold ASICs, storage controllers, and networking chips for data centers, mobile networks, and client computing. Founded in 1981 in Santa Clara, California, LSI pioneered ASIC design methodology and developed key products for the PlayStation, enterprise RAID, and SAS storage markets. The company merged with Agere Systems in 2007 and was acquired by Avago Technologies (now Broadcom Inc.) in 2014 for $6.6 billion.
