LiSTie

LiSTie Inc. is a Japanese deep-tech startup developing next-generation lithium recovery technology to address the looming global lithium supply shortfall. The company's core innovation is the LiSMIC (Li Separation Method by Ionic Conductor) technology, originally developed at Japan's National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology (QST), which uses an engineered ionic conductor membrane to extract ultra-high-purity lithium even from impurity-rich sources such as salt lakes. LiSTie is commercializing this technology through a container-sized LiSMIC Unit designed to enable on-site lithium extraction from any type of lithium resource. The company targets both battery recycling and primary resource extraction markets, and is pursuing applications in fusion energy fuel supply. Founded in July 2023 by Dr. Tsuyoshi Hoshino, the inventor of LiSMIC, LiSTie is headquartered in Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan.
