Composable data center infrastructure
Fungible Inc. was a Santa Clara, California-based semiconductor startup founded in 2015 by Pradeep Sindhu (co-founder of Juniper Networks) and Bertrand Serlet (former Apple software executive). The company developed data processing units (DPUs) — purpose-built chips designed to offload and accelerate data center workloads including networking, storage, and security. Fungible raised over $300 million in venture funding before being acquired by Microsoft in January 2023 for approximately $190 million to bolster Azure's data center capabilities.
