Eden GeoPower is a cleantech company founded in April 2017 by geoscientist Paris Smalls and Ammar Alali at MIT. The company is developing a first-of-its-kind Electrical Reservoir Stimulation (ERS) technology that breaks rocks with electricity to enhance subsurface permeability — enabling more efficient extraction of geothermal energy, geologic hydrogen, and carbon storage, as well as improved mining operations. Unlike traditional hydraulic fracturing, Eden's ERS technology creates evenly distributed permeability networks in the subsurface to maximize geothermal power generation potential. The company has received support from the US Department of Energy including ARPA-E awards totaling $1.4 million for developing stimulated geologic hydrogen technologies, and works with industry leaders across geothermal energy and natural resource recovery. Eden was formerly known as Eden GeoTech.
