DLP Labs is a Miami-based insurtech company that builds battery-first coverage and underwriting infrastructure for commercial electric vehicle fleets. Founded in 2024 by CEO Ryan Kuhel — a licensed property and casualty insurance producer with prior partnerships experience at Meta, LinkedIn, and Microsoft — alongside CTO Sameer Chauhan, who brings engineering experience from Polygon Labs, Riot Games, Dow Jones, and Cooper Union, and data scientist co-founder Jeremy Lerner, PhD, a vehicle-telematics patent holder with prior roles at Ford Motor Company and FedEx. DLP Labs' core innovation is the Battery Protection Protocol, a software layer that continuously monitors a battery's State of Health, charging behavior, and degradation patterns, turning live telemetry into priced, underwriteable risk. This data layer enables carrier-backed Battery Service Contracts — a new category of coverage (distinct from standard insurance) that provides defined financial remediation for battery-related events like degradation, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) cycling wear, and catastrophic pack failure, which legacy auto insurance was never designed to handle. The company also runs a consumer-facing data product, Driver, that lets fleet operators and vehicle owners earn $DLP tokens by sharing automotive telemetry; as of its most recent public update the platform had over 6,352 connected cars sharing data, growing by roughly 200 new drivers and fleets per day. DLP Labs targets government agencies, fleet operators, insurers, and energy companies, positioning itself against a projected $250B automotive data market by 2030.
