CATALOG is a Boston-based deep tech company pioneering DNA-based data storage and computing, founded in 2016 by MIT scientists. Its proprietary Shannon platform uses an inkjet-printer-inspired mechanism to write massive amounts of data into synthetic DNA at unprecedented density and durability — offering storage that can last thousands of years at a fraction of the energy cost of conventional data centers. CATALOG developed the world's first commercially viable device for DNA data storage and has expanded into DNA-based computation, positioning DNA as the medium for a new generation of hyper-scalable, energy-efficient computing infrastructure. In March 2026, CATALOG's assets were acquired by French DNA storage startup Biomemory to accelerate commercial deployment.
