About
Founded in 2019 by former Seattle DOT head Scott Kubly, Cabana converted Ford Transit cargo vans into mobile hotel rooms equipped with beds, bathrooms, storage, and Wi-Fi, renting them via a smartphone app for roughly $200 per night. The company expanded from Seattle to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, and Minneapolis, growing to over 70 vans in five markets and serving more than 4,000 guests. Backed by Craft Ventures, Goldcrest Capital, and others, Cabana raised $16.5 million before shutting down at the end of 2023 due to macroeconomic headwinds, semiconductor supply chain disruptions, and an inability to scale its fleet.
