Buf

Buf builds the toolchain for Protocol Buffers, gRPC, and ConnectRPC so teams can manage the shape of their data across the API lifecycle. The Buf CLI is a one-stop shop for local Protobuf development, automatically reformatting files, validating API changes locally and in CI, and invoking gRPC and ConnectRPC APIs. The Buf Schema Registry publishes generated SDKs, API documentation, remote plugins, and policy checks so changes will not break downstream consumers. Buf also develops ConnectRPC for backend, frontend, and mobile use cases, Protovalidate for semantic validation, and a broader Protobuf toolchain including Bazel rules, Gradle support, and language specification work.
