Briink

Briink is a Berlin-based AI company founded in 2021 that builds purpose-built AI systems for ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) data management. The company was co-founded by Tomas van der Heijden (CEO, former renewable energy M&A lawyer and VP of Product at Y Combinator-backed ROSS Intelligence) and Samuel King (CTO, MSc Big Data from Cambridge, former data science lead and advisor to Climate Change AI). Briink develops AI tools that help sustainability teams and ESG platforms extract, structure, verify, and reuse ESG data from complex documents including reports, policies, questionnaires, supplier disclosures, and internal documents — enabling interoperable ESG reporting across frameworks. The platform achieves 90%+ accuracy on ESG data extraction and evidence detection tasks and is available both as an API and as a platform. Briink raised €3.85M in seed funding in September 2024, co-led by investors in the sustainable finance space, and has approximately 22 employees. Briink is B Corp certified and serves organizations navigating sustainable finance and the transition to net zero.
