Revolutionizing Cornea Repair
BioLattice Ophthalmics is an award-winning tissue engineering company founded by Amelia Zellander, PhD (tissue engineer and pharmaceutical scientist) and Linda Alunkal, MBA. The company is developing CorneaClear, a synthetic corneal implant designed as a true alternative to donor corneas. With 2 million people suffering from corneal blindness annually and only 1 in 70 patients obtaining donor tissue, BioLattice's engineered cornea also offers corrective vision capabilities. The company has received funding from Life Sciences Greenhouse Investments (LSGI) and won multiple pitch competitions including HiveBio's Silicon Valley competition ($20K) and the Startup of the Year award. Based in Philadelphia and backed by federal grants before transitioning to VC funding.
