American Maglev Technology (AMT) is a small engineering company headquartered in Amelia Island (Fernandina Beach), Florida, focused on developing and commercializing advanced magnetic levitation (maglev) transportation and energy technologies. Founded in 1994, AMT's technology portfolio spans transit propulsion systems, solid-state braking, hydropower generation, and superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES), targeting disruption of conventional industry standards in mass transit and energy. The company has developed zero-emission maglev transit systems demonstrated at a test track in Powder Springs, Georgia, and has pursued urban maglev corridor projects in markets including Orlando and Puerto Rico.
