Aksense

Aksense is an Istanbul-based medical device company that has developed a blood-based point-of-care biosensor for diagnosing healthcare-associated infections in minutes rather than the 1-3 days required by conventional lab cultures. Using proteomic and electrochemical sensing to measure the body's immune response to seven major pathogenic bacteria, including E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Staphylococcus aureus, the device requires only a single drop of blood and no sample preparation. Aksense's technology has been validated in clinical studies with over 400 ICU patients, showing 100% sensitivity and 91% specificity.
