AgDevCo Limited is a specialist impact investor in African agribusiness, founded in 2008 and 2009 (operational from 2009) with initial backing from the UK Government. AgDevCo's mission is to build successful and sustainable African agribusinesses through long-term investment and technical assistance, delivering positive impact at scale. The firm provides patient, risk-tolerant capital ranging from $3 million to $15 million in loans and equity to early-stage and established agribusinesses across sub-Saharan Africa, alongside working capital facilities ($3–5 million) and technical assistance grants up to $800,000 via its Technical Assistance Facility (TAF). AgDevCo's investment thesis centers on transforming African agriculture from subsistence farming to modern, commercial, and value-adding agribusiness — creating jobs, improving food security, and generating financial returns. The firm targets high-potential agribusinesses with capable management teams that can deliver both commercial viability and measurable social impact. In 2022, AgDevCo secured $90 million in DFI funding to continue expanding its portfolio. AgDevCo also operates LAFCo, a sister facility for smaller working capital loans, and actively supports portfolio companies with specialist networks and technical expertise to improve smallholder farmer integration.
