Acesion Pharma

Acesion Pharma ApS is a Danish clinical-stage biotech company founded in 2011 and based in Frederiksberg (Copenhagen), Denmark. The company is pioneering the development of novel SK ion channel inhibitors for the treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF), the most common cardiac arrhythmia. Its technology is based on research initiated in 2008 at the University of Copenhagen and chemistry insights from Neurosearch. Existing drug therapies for AF have limited efficacy and significant safety risks; Acesion's approach — inhibiting SK channels that regulate heart rhythm — represents the first new therapeutic principle for AF treatment in over 20 years. The company advanced its lead compound AP30663 through a successful Phase 2 trial (primary endpoint met, March 2023) and initiated a Phase 2 trial of AP31969 in January 2026.
