Zookal was founded in 2011 by Sydney university students who experienced firsthand the burden of expensive course textbooks. Zookal.com grew into the largest student portal in Australia, offering textbook rentals, online study tools, and 24/7 expert tutors. The platform has served over 1 million learners and saved students more than $35M USD in educational expenses. The company subsequently expanded into Southeast Asia and raised A$15 million in a later round to scale operations. Zookal also partnered with Booktopia to broaden its reach in the Australian market.
