Zoobean

Zoobean, operating its flagship product Beanstack, is an education technology company that provides reading challenge and engagement software for public libraries and K-12 schools. Founded in 2013 in Arlington, Virginia by Felix Brandon Lloyd (former Google Head of K-12 Education) and Washington D.C.'s Teacher of the Year, Zoobean created Beanstack to help institutions run gamified reading challenges, track reading logs, and motivate readers of all ages with digital badges and rewards. The platform serves thousands of libraries and schools by making it easy to run summer reading programs, reading fundraisers, and year-round literacy initiatives. Beanstack integrates with digital content providers including Comics Plus, allowing reading activity across platforms to automatically count toward challenges. In 2025, Zoobean became part of the Joyful Reading Company, which also combines Comics Plus to expand access to reading content and engagement tools.
