Weibo

Weibo, also known as Sina Weibo, is a Chinese microblogging platform launched by Sina Corporation on August 14, 2009. It is one of China's largest social media platforms, combining public self-expression with tools for social interaction, content aggregation, and content distribution; users can post text, images, and video and follow other accounts to build networks. Weibo was carved out from Sina in a 2014 IPO on NASDAQ under the ticker WB, with Alibaba as a major shareholder. The platform has hundreds of millions of monthly active users and is widely used by celebrities, media organizations, businesses, and government agencies for public communication in China.
