Varinos is a Japanese clinical genomics company founded in 2017 by Yoshiyuki Sakuraba and Yoko Nagai, both former Illumina specialists. The company develops and commercializes next-generation sequencer (NGS)-based clinical tests, with a primary focus on reproductive medicine and obstetrics and gynecology. Its flagship services include the Endometrial Microbiome Test — the world's first clinical microbiome test for the infertility field using NGS — and the Preimplantation Genetic Test (PGT-A), which screens embryo chromosomes before IVF implantation. Varinos operates a registered clinical laboratory (Koto-ku, Tokyo, No. 177) with proprietary quality control processes and active collaborative research with IVF clinics and universities across Japan. Beyond reproductive medicine, the company is expanding its genomic testing capabilities into cancer and neonatal genetic diseases, aiming to standardize clinical sequencing across multiple disease areas.
