Unseen Bio

Unseen Bio ApS is a Danish health-tech company founded in 2018 by Johan Hartmann and Jens Gandløse, focused on raising awareness of gut health as a key to preventing disease and improving quality of life. The company offers consumer-oriented microbiome tests — a Standard and Premium tier — that provide comprehensive stool analysis using next-generation gut bacteria sequencing. Customers register online, complete lifestyle questionnaires, record their diet, and mail in a sample; results are delivered through the Unseen Bio app and web platform (my.unseenbio.com), covering gut biodiversity, beneficial and harmful bacteria profiles, and personalized diet recommendations. Launched commercially in 2021, Unseen Bio's tests are now used across Europe with results delivered to more than 20 countries. The company also operates a Health Partner program serving gastroenterologists, fertility clinics, longevity clinics, functional medicine practitioners, and other healthcare professionals who use microbiome data to support clinical decision-making. An industry arm helps food and supplement manufacturers understand how their products affect the gut flora. Unseen Bio's international team spans bioinformatics, bioengineering, food science, and software development across six nationalities.
