Tome

Tome (formerly Magical Tome) was an AI-powered storytelling and presentation platform that used generative AI to help users create narrative-driven slides and visual stories from text prompts. Founded in 2020 in San Francisco by Keith Peiris and Neil Dugal (both former Meta managers), Tome rapidly grew to 3 million users within weeks of its AI launch in early 2023, becoming the fastest productivity tool to reach 1 million users at the time. The platform evolved from a consumer storytelling tool into an enterprise AI assistant for sales teams, using custom LLMs trained on company sales methodologies to automate rep workflows throughout the sales cycle. Tome raised $81 million total from Lightspeed, Coatue, and Greylock before being acquired by AngelList in April 2025, where its AI technology was integrated into AngelList's backend systems for contract analysis and portfolio management.
