About
Thrive Savings was a Toronto fintech that built a mobile app to help college-age consumers save money and shop without relying on credit-card debt. Its product used spending-pattern analytics to calculate how much a user could automatically move into savings, then offered instant shopping through gift-card redemption with cash-back rebates at tens of thousands of brands. After Canadian banks blocked the integrations it needed, Thrive left Canada in 2019, joined the Techstars / Western Union accelerator, and later tried to launch in the United States. CEO Jordan Wimmer announced on LinkedIn that the company would shut down at the end of March 2021 after running out of time and money.
