Telexistence

Telexistence (TX Inc.) is a Tokyo-based robotics and AI company founded in 2017 to design, manufacture, and operate robots wherever there is an opportunity to push the state of the art forward. The company builds on the concept of 'telexistence' first proposed in 1980 by Dr. Susumu Tachi of the University of Tokyo, which refers to enabling humans to be present and act freely in a remote environment, effectively expanding the human presence. TX's mission is to change robotics, change structures, and change the world by liberating humankind from simple, repetitive, and unsafe physical labor. The company develops hardware, software, AI, and teleoperation technologies entirely in-house, targeting retail and logistics automation. TX introduced its Model-T robot in 2020 for retail restocking at Lawson convenience stores, and subsequently deployed TX SCARA robots into 300 FamilyMart stores across Japan.
