Teal Health

Teal Health is a San Francisco-based women's telehealth company that developed the Teal Wand, the first and only FDA-authorized at-home self-collection device for cervical cancer screening. Co-founded by Dr. Avnesh Thakor (Stanford Associate Professor) and Kara Egan, Teal Health combines a telehealth platform with an ergonomically designed cervical self-collection device using primary HPV testing. The Teal Wand is clinically proven to detect cervical precancer 96% of the time with performance equivalent to clinician-collected samples. In January 2026, Teal Health expanded to all 50 U.S. states, with over 50% of early users being underscreened or never-screened women.
