Synplicity

Synplicity, Inc. (NASDAQ: SYNP) was a leading supplier of innovative field programmable gate array (FPGA) synthesis and rapid ASIC prototyping software, serving communications, military/aerospace, semiconductor, consumer, and computer electronics markets. The company's flagship products provided designers with high-performance FPGA implementation and IC verification tools that reduced time-to-results and schedule risk. Synplicity was acquired by Synopsys (NASDAQ: SNPS) in May 2008 for approximately $223 million ($8 per share), with its product line continuing under Synopsys as the Synplicity Business Group; its FPGA synthesis tool survives today as Synopsys Synplify. The company was headquartered in Sunnyvale, California prior to its acquisition.
