Sustaera

Sustaera is a Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology startup spun out of Susteon, with deep expertise in carbon capture, separations chemistry, and process scale-up. The company has developed a novel electro-thermal, monolithic DAC system powered by renewable electricity that achieves 90%+ energy efficiency, enabling carbon removal at under $100 per tonne of CO2. Sustaera's modular, location-agnostic systems are engineered for geographic flexibility — deployable across open grasslands, arid deserts, and tropical environments — and are designed to leverage existing manufacturing supply chains for rapid scale-up toward gigaton-level removal. The company has been selected by Shopify for a multi-year carbon removal agreement and received a $1M XPRIZE milestone prize.
