StorSimple is a Microsoft hybrid cloud storage solution that integrates on-premises storage arrays with Azure cloud to help enterprises manage rapid data growth cost-effectively. The platform automatically tiers hot and cold data across local and cloud storage, reducing storage costs by up to 60 percent by moving inactive data to the cloud. StorSimple serves as primary storage for collaboration, file sharing, databases, and virtual machines while providing automated cloud snapshots, integrated disaster recovery with geographic redundancy, and centralized management through the Azure portal. The system supports compression, deduplication, thin provisioning, and tiering, giving organizations the flexibility to decide which data stays on-premises and which moves to the cloud. StorSimple was founded in 2009, acquired by Microsoft in 2012, and has been integrated into the Azure storage portfolio.
