Sonian was founded in 2007 and became the leading pure public cloud information archiving company, providing cloud-powered archiving services for email and other business communications. The platform enabled organizations to preserve, analyze, and access electronic communications for legal discovery, regulatory compliance, and continuity purposes while deriving organizational insights from archived data. Sonian served more than 25,000 customers across 43 countries and operated primarily through OEM reseller partnerships with managed service providers. The company was headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts and had approximately 71 employees. Sonian was acquired by Barracuda Networks in November 2017 for approximately $55 million, and its technology was rebranded as Barracuda Sonian.
