Socremo

Socremo (Sociedade de Crédito de Moçambique, SA) is a licensed microfinance bank based in Maputo, Mozambique, established in 1998. Originally created to provide financial services to low-income populations without access to retail banking, Socremo evolved from a social support project led by the Office for the Promotion of Employment into a fully commercial microfinance bank. The institution serves micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with a range of lending products including working capital loans, deposits, and embedded insurance. Socremo concentrates on a target group of micro and small enterprises, offering loans with an average value of approximately USD 1,000. The bank is an investee of Arise, an investment company focused on financial inclusion across sub-Saharan Africa.
