About

Runlayer is an enterprise AI security platform purpose-built for the Model Context Protocol (MCP) ecosystem. Founded in August 2025 by serial entrepreneur Andrew Berman (previously co-founder of Nanit and Vowel, which was acquired by Zapier), along with Tal Peretz and Vitor Balocco — all former Zapier AI leaders — Runlayer launched from stealth in November 2025 with $11 million in seed funding led by Khosla Ventures' Keith Rabois and Felicis. As MCP has become the de facto standard for connecting AI agents to enterprise tools and data, Runlayer addresses the critical security gap: the protocol itself ships with minimal security controls, leaving companies exposed to prompt injection, data exfiltration, and unauthorized access. Runlayer acts as a central MCP gateway combining identity-aware access control (integrating with Okta and Entra), real-time threat detection that analyzes every MCP request, complete observability across all agentic activity, and an enterprise catalog of pre-vetted MCP servers. Within four months of stealth launch, it signed eight unicorns and public companies as customers including Gusto, dbt Labs, Instacart, and Opendoor. Advisors include David Soria Parra (co-creator of MCP at Anthropic), Travis McPeak (Head of Security at Cursor), and Nikita Shamgunov (CEO of Neon). The legal entity is Anysource Inc.
