Root3 Technologies Inc. is a Chicago-based technology social enterprise and SaaS company founded in June 2011. The company developed a hosted, no-install software-as-a-service platform that uses predictive analytics and big data to reduce energy costs by 10–30% in on-site energy plants operated by institutions such as universities, hospitals, airports, and military bases. Root3's patent-pending technology analyzes operational data to help energy plant managers make optimized, hour-by-hour operating decisions, eliminating inefficiencies without requiring capital investment or physical hardware changes. The company was co-founded by CEO Archie Gupta (formerly of Schneider Electric, ITC Holdings, and Clemson University) alongside co-founders Allison Hannon (formerly of Argonne National Labs and The Climate Group) and Morgan Leahy (formerly of Procter & Gamble), all of whom hold MBAs from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Root3 participated in Chicago-area cleantech accelerator programs and focused on reducing carbon footprints for large institutional energy consumers.
