Roboat

Roboat builds a vessel automation system for commercial fleets, layering assistance, automation, and eventual full autonomy on top of crewed operations. The system holds position against wind, current, and wash, plans and executes routes, and lines up automated docking approaches, while lidar-based localization keeps vessels on course when GNSS is blocked or jammed. Roboat grew out of a research program started by MIT and the AMS Institute, first showcased self-navigating vessels on Amsterdam's canals, and continues today as an independent company focused on commercial vessels, headquartered in Amsterdam with systems sailing daily with operators.
